After my neurosurgery back in early 2012 I was having a very difficult time falling asleep due to pain as the nerves came back to life, leg tremors, some rather violent and just a general unease. The neurologists prescribed Trazadone as a sleep aid. It also has an off-label benefit of helping with neuropathy which I had and still have.
After awhile I stopped talking it. I figured out that while it helped me get to sleep, when it wore off, often after four hours, I woke up. Not good. Now, with rare exception, I sleep just fine without any aids.
Hmmm. I was put on trazadone too, not only for the sleeping problem but also as an added aid for depression. I don't take it as prescribed because I so often don't need help sleeping, but do try to remember to take it for depression, which is a major problem in my life but manageable with medication.

Hmm! In the wake of my wife's leaving I may have to rethink it. I'm decidedly having some depressive episodes. I think I handle them well but a little help wouldn't hurt.
I started Trazadone as a sleep aid. I asked if it was okay to cut the pills so I could see if I could wean off them and still get good sleep. Pharmacist said that is fine to do. My wife said "don't you dare!" - she has noticed a difference in my moods and she likes it.

Well there's a thumbs up () for them. As a general rule I'm not a big fan of meds but at this age and not having to get up and go to work any longer, or usually anywhere else, why not if they help.

I am not a big fan either, which is why I wanted to start reducing the dose and weaning off of it. But it seems my medicine is helping other people be less annoying, so I guess I will keep taking it for their sake...

Another vote for, "Why not?"
