Ok..time for a switcharoo..meat is still pretty expensive.

Had to buy some ground beef cause my supply ran out and the next bull won't be ready to go to freezer camp til Feb.

Last time I had to buy ground beef it was only about $2 something/lb.
Now it's over $4/lb.

I just mentioned that one a few posts/pages back. It was around $2 and something in 2010 and climbed to over $4 by 2014 and has been pretty stable for the last year or so. But those are averages and you still catch sales that can make it seem like it hasn't been stable.

I've switched to pork. It's more tender. You can get a nice pork roast for $2/lb. The last one I bought was on sale for 99 cents per pound. It was huge, but the butcher (Safeway) cut it into quarters for me so it will fit in my crockpot. Ends up really tender and juicy.

Beef just doesn't taste as good anymore to me and seems harder to digest, too. Too lean, I guess?

You crack me up, Matt......

Eggs have been brought up in many other threads, not just this one, nsometimes fanatically. I have no issue with items that are a major cost, like insurance, heating fuel, electricity, and food overall. But OVERALL, we haven't seen a significant increase in the cost of food around here. Some up, some down. We also don't eat a lot of beef. So I guess if you live on steak and eggs, then your overall food cost had gone up a lot more than mine. I'm type 2, so I watch what I eat.

And I don't drink caffeinated drinks regularly either, maybe some Earl Grey.

God forbid you question the CPI dogma in this forum, and the "pitchforks" are out, as if something is wrong with us, who are "worked up", and in a "frenzy."

Nothing is wrong with us. It's just that CPI is BS.

I follow shadowstats for my figures. Seems to be more in line with what I see day to day.
And I get poked by the pitchforks when I do say it.

One of the two articles said monetary inflation is 4.9%. How can QE not cause inflation? But, hey they got another bridge to sell...
