You need to ask the person I was responding to. He has been a long time poster and many of us were able to follow his retirement.

I've given up trying to make friends where we relocated.

I gave up my motorcycle two years ago. Not for financial reasons but after 55 years of owning and riding a motorcycle I decided I was no longer capable of operating two wheels safely. It was difficult because I can only think of one other activity that I enjoyed more than riding motorcycles. Next thing I will have to give up is vehicles with a manual transmission. When I get to the age when seeing a beautiful Female doesn't trip my trigger just send me to the morgue.

We really hardly go out to restaurants now - only for a very special occasion. But we do get takeout. But i retired very early (48) and on Disability, so our income is pretty low. It's still worth it, since i couldnt work in pain. My S/O still works part-time at 62 and has cancer in remission - he will retire in the next yr or so.

I never was a big spender, i mostly buy books, CDs, and i like my annual flowers/herbs in the Summer.

OH - and we're getting ready to give up NJ for Maine! (I'm now 57.)
