""There are 486 holes of golf here," he tells NPR's Robert Siegel."
Different strokes for different folks.*
Ick.
What happens when they find out that a LOT of future retirees aren't interested in chasing a little white ball around?

Why should they care?
You'd be surprised at how many people are passionate about golf to the point where they live and breathe the sport.
If you're trying to insinuate that the current owners will have problems trying to sell at some point in the future because of all of the golf courses, well I believe that you couldn't be more wrong.
I lived near the villages for several years. One of the things they don't like to talk about is the high rate of s e x u a l l y transmitted diseases there. As one lady says, 'dear, we don't all just golf'. eeeew.
As the person who started this thread, the golfing would appeal to me. Do I golf now? No. Would I like to? Yes, very much so. When I was growing up, I was raised around it but always had to work so hard never had the chance.
My daughter is an A-1 golfer as is her uncle. My husband plays but needs a brush up. I was just looking at different places and the activities are what appeals to me.
Sitting on the couch watching TV doesn't do it for me. If I move to a place like The Villages, it would be for friendships and the social activities b/c those are the things lacking in my life or so I think.
Hi. We just got back from The Villages (Oct 5th 2001) and bought a plot of land and are building our dream home on a golf course. We fell in love with the area. Trust me, you will never get board and there is tons to do. I have no friends either and plan on making many when we move there next spring. You will fall in love with the lifestyle and the people. So much to do with activities, dining, movies, shopping....everything you could want. I urge you to check it out. We are building in Sumpter Landing. Good luck!!!
Another tip...they are on the third and final phase in The Villages. After that no new homes will be built. I believe they are building about 12,000 new homes. Sounds like a lot but they are going fast! If your looking to build, I'd go soon. I think there are a fair amount of nice resales. have fun!!
