In Nebraska, no smoking in restaurants or public places. In fact, I can't remember the last time I have seen anyone smoking.

It always amazes me how many people feel that smoking is gross and dangerous to one's health, but that drinking is not only OK, but actually good for them. Whatever.

It is because I don't want to have to breathe your smoking from 20 feet away?

The guy sitting next to me in a bar doesn't blow his alcohol towards me.

That's a fact! The less and less people smoke, the more and more I can recognize it when I'm anywhere close by. Now, I won't patronize a business where there is smoking. It is just too stinky.

Lost my dad to the effects of smoking since he was a teenager and it contributed to the premature death of my mom. Don't want it anywhere near me. I have never smoked or drank alcohol, (except for the occasional 8-ounce glass of red wine). I must lead a very boring life.

How about Northwest Arkansas, what are the laws there?
No idea about Arkansas. As you can see, I live quite a ways north of there.

I still smoke but with all the bus I have cut down considerably. Down from a pack a day to 5 cigarette s a day so the ban is working for me.

Can't smoke 50 feet from my building & nowhere near stores. We'll see what happens this winter.

Of course we knew all about the casinos having been to LV a bunch of times but didn't consider day to day life.
There was (maybe still is) smoking in the grocery stores and drug stores Seems if they allow slot machines at the front of the stores, then they also allow smoking.
For various reasons we only lasted 6 months and fled back to San Diego
They banned smoking in stores and offices in Nevada several years ago.

It is miserable in smaller bars in Las Vegas that have gaming, as smoking is allowed if the bars have poker machines. But people sit and chain smoke even if they are not gambling. I shoot pool in two leagues and there is no way to avoid it. Bartenders and waitresses do not like it and don't get health benefits that balance the risk to their health at work. Some of them try to make the air as clean as possible but they are small businesses that cannot afford state of the art smoke eaters and ventilation. Businesses don't want gamblers to leave their machines to smoke outside as they will lose money. Or so the story goes. The money for these businesses is in gambling. My experience is that many of the smokers are not gambling and they smoke indoors because they are too lazy or inconsiderate to go outside. Some do go outside but not enough to make a difference. And vaping with all kind of odd flavors and cigars added in the mix make some places unbearable. Ewww.
