Making profits off of sick people is morally wrong, IMO.
How about investing in R&D and production and the multi-million dollar process to gain approval by the FDA and distribution and physician education and patient education, employing thousands of people directly and indirectly, all so you can heal sick people? Is that morally wrong in your opinion? Just curious.

A lot of people think all health care should be free. The problem is if you take all profit out of being a doctor you will most likely lose a lot of good people who would choose other fields because there wouldn't be any money in it. Besides nothing can really be "free".
We've paid into Social Security all of our lives. There will be hell to pay if anyone takes that away. If they do, they'd better write us all a check for what we've all paid in to it.

Not just him but the Republican majority in congress and most state legislatures and governorships. Maryland has a Republican governor and that is a solid blue state and he was clear about cuts he wants to make.

Well no not free but the tax increase to cover it would likely be less then the cost of healthcare to almost all working class families. You may be a bit upset if you ear over 200k a year thou.
As for losing good people most countries have either government healthcare or more highly regulated healthcare then we have here and many manage far better outcomes.

No doubt some kind of middle ground must be found because the system is not working. It doesn't seem fair that an entire lifetime of workingsavings can be wiped out with one catastrophic illness does it?
Ohhhh by the way.... old and bitter? Hardly! I am typing this on my tablet on my veranda on the ship as we are in port at MArtinique. Free wifi. So I do have a few gadgets. The temp. is 84 degrees with scattered clouds.

Who said that Doctors should work for free? We have free public schools but the teachers are paid, you don't get a bill if you call a cop but they get paid...

Years ago, the beginnings of public police agencies were cooperative pools of game wardens that worked for wealthy estate owners. Fire departments were operated by private insurance companies. If you had a policy with them, they would save your house. If not, they'd let it burn.
Over the time since, great advances in government and the services it provides for everyone have been made.
But many countries have made more progress in health care. Pulling it back even further here, would be akin to luddites opposing technological advances. Until we establish a public health program that covers everyone, there's going to be great divides among our people, based on age and income. Without government sponsored, universal health care, the insurance industry will continue to bleed us for an unsustainable amount of money, that should be going to provide treatment for patients.
