I heard a couple months ago that a bit over 2% was being bandied about, any hear anything since then?
Also if it should turn out to be correct, has anyone heard of Medicare increases for 2018 ?
that is a better deal than i had working when each health insurance increase was more than any raise i got , if i even got one . at least now i am not behind .

"By law, the dollar amount of Part B premium increases cannot exceed the dollar amount of the COLA - a feature that ensures net Social Security benefits do not fall. The hold harmless provision applies to the 70 percent of the Medicare population enrolled in both programs. Those not held harmless include anyone delaying their filing for Social Security benefits, but others affected include some federal and state government retirees. Affluent seniors who pay high-income Medicare premium surcharges also are not protected."

The July Consumer Price Index for Workers (CPI-W), which was released on August 11th, was 238.617, which is 1.52 percent above the average CPI-W for the third quarter (July August, September) of 2016 (235.057). Since there was a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) issued last year for 2017, this figure will be used as the baseline to determine the 2018 COLA for federal retirees and Social Security recipients.
The Consumer Price Index for August 2017 is scheduled to be released on September 14, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. (EDT). Again, the 2018 COLA will be based on the difference between the 2016 third quarter average and the 2017 third quarter average (July, Aug, Sept.).
The official 2018 Social Security (and federal retiree) COLA will be announced in mid-October 2017, following release of the September CPI-W.
