I asked John my husband what he wanted in retirement and he said that he wants to be healthy and have what he has now. (He's sitting on the couch with total control of the remote. Some things never change.)
Your Dad is very dependent. Divorced and remarried how many times? That's dependent. Has to have somebody in that bed sleeping next to him. When unmarried, he uses paper plates - and that's if he can even boil water. Truly "single" men, never married (like me), once up in years just like to be left alone (to answer your question).
you guys are shortchanging yourselves- while not quite old enough to retire (I could, actually, on savings)- I love having a partner-- I had a husband (didn't pan out, mainly d/t the $45,000 he charged to visa)....
But still I love having a partner and he's not complaining... lets just say we are quite sexually active....
The Henny Youngman type of humor is something out of the dark dark ages. It always surprises me that men who are still alive could still be using Henny Youngman type of comedy.
And yet they don't want to be alone, a high percentage of men remarry and many start second families!
Where did you come across this info? Older women don't have much choice because the older men are dead. My wife says that if anything ever happened to her, there would be a line of women at my door wanting to "console" me. I figure it would be cheaper to hire a housekeeper to come in once a week. As for starting second families, any pre-menopausal woman I might meet would be my granddaughter's age. Trophy wives are a fantasy. You have to be a 1%-er to take on raising a child after age 60.
