I spent a fortune on book over the years but now use the library to download books almost exclusively. I have a problem with buying tees and blouses that I just do not need. Boring.

Had to downsize severely over the last 3 1/2 years and two moves, and got over collecting anything that's not necessary anymore. Libraries are my free storage units now for books and movies.

I guess the things I learned not to ever let go of again are tools. I have learned to think like a man with regard to tools. Buy good ones, keep them forever, never lend them out, shoot anyone who tries to steal them.

I just moved and I swear I will never buy anything again. Ever!

I did collect blue and white Wedgwood. Now I'm mostly going to get rid of it except for my dinnerware set.

I have tons of art books from the cavemen up to modern times, loads of books on antique furniture, books on historic New England architecture, millions of gardening books. Right now I'm in the process of purging them. I can't believe I am doing this because I used to buy books instead of food! Some will be kept, of course, and I am keeping some children's books because of the lovely illustrations. It hurts to get rid of books but what is the point of hoarding all of these? There are places called libraries.

I actually sold quite a few on Amazon. You might want to look at that first. Or Ebay.

I used to collect so many things - shoes, handbags, watches, nailpolish, transferware, vintage dishes, tons of bracelets, vintage jewelry ...

I've gotten to the point where I have enough vintage dishes (my hutch is full and yes, I use it all!).
I now keep my fingernails painted nude, french manicure, taupey grey, or black ... and only red on my toes (so I can dispense with the rest of my collection).
I have 2 good watches that I rotate.
I sold a huge amount of jewelry on Poshmark, keeping only the best.
I use only a few bags now, donated a ton.
I still have a good number of shoes (about 15 pair) after I donated a bunch.

So at this point the only thing I love and will continue to buy is candles.
