Ouch, that comment about the hands would touch a nerve from a stranger. It is the place where age really shows itself.
However, I remember my mother's sister once took my hand when I was in my 20s and said my hands and fingers were shaped exactly like my mother's. She was right, and now when I see my aging hands they still look exactly like my mom's. It actually is a comforting feeling to "see" her with me, if that makes sense.
^^^^It makes sense. I don't mind when a relative who hasn't see me in years says, "OMG you look just like your mom". I know they mean the way my mom looked at my age. Looking like my mom makes me feel closer to her now that she's gone.
