Young guys greeted each other with “Hey, dude” or “Hey, Holmes”.
If you were a young woman at a party, dance place, bar & a guy was hitting on you, the standard pickup line was “Hey, Fox”.
If you were young dudes, you didn’t use a standard handshake, you did the soul handshake & said “Hey, what’s happening...”. This handshake was used even in business transactions between young guys.
We also talked a lot about having “the munchies”...have not heard that phrase in years. Marijuana was called grass or dope.
At least, that was life in SoCal. Right on.

Book (as in leave) "Let's book."
Pistol packin' mama (female cop - a rarity in our town)
I've heard "book " used as a term meaning to drive really fast.
Another slang word for state troopers in the 70's was "bear."
