"Most of my money I spent on fine cigars, rare whisky, fast women, and slow horses. They rest I just wasted."

I think the secret to a long life is there is no secret, just a lot of opinions.

Just ask these people.

Default smoking cigars and drinking bourbon and running with fast women, that’s the secret to life.

Even that didn't give him a longer life, it must've been a fun life.... maybe that's the real secret?

BFB: So I feel like a lot of these types of interviews ask,

“What’s the secret to a long life?” The answer’s gotta be beer for you, right?
No, no. No, I’m a bourbon drinker. But there are some beers that I like. The Blackwing I like,
and that’s why they’re having the special: 98 cents a can instead of $5 a can.

And the reason for a long life, I don’t know. I ask the doctors and they don’t know.
They say, “Oh, what do you do?”
I say, “Well, you know, the things I’ve done earlier in life maybe is what’s making me live longer.”

They say, “What did you do?”
I say, Well, I drank from the Fountain of Youth in Florida when I got called to go into the Army.

And I shipped overseas. We had an allotment of beer or cigars, so I started smoking cigars–
I would take the cigars instead of the beer. So I’ve been smoking cigars since 1942.
So I guess smoking cigars and drinking bourbon and running with fast women, that’s the secret to life.

Drinking bourbon, smoking cigars, and running with fast women - what more could anyone want!
This is all about life before metoo became a social problem.

Classic advice from a great storyteller.

Seriously, I don't think there is much of a correlation between lifestyle and long life, except that smoking and being grossly overweight are bad for you. So I'm going to do what I want.

Overindulgence in those things can shorten a person’s life but other than I don’t believe anyone has really come up with a formula that will length it.

Maybe you'll live as long as George Burns. He liked cigars, liquor (not sure which one), candy, and I'm sure he liked looking at a beautiful woman.
