One last plug for aging women who are suffering from poor psych/mental health to try yoga.......

STUDY CONCLUSION:Among a non-probability sample of female yoga practitioners between 45 and 80 years, increased yoga experience predicted increased levels of psychological well-being. Results showed a dose-response effect, with yoga experience exercising an increasingly protective effect against low levels of subjective well-being (SWB) and vitality.

Just the opposite. Less anxiety. With age you should realize that almost nothing is important and you should never worry about something you have no control over.

I am more anxious driving and being a passenger with my husband. Maybe as we have awful traffic and currently our city has a big building boom so there are trucks everywhere. My husband has become a cranky old man driver and thinks he is the only good driver in this city of 5 million people. I listen to my music to drown his talkback preferences but much prefer to get the train. But many of my friends are the same. Perhaps an age related anxiety.

I wish! A friend in her 60s was standing on her head the other day. She's an avid yoga person. But, she's tiny and doesn't have 3 replaced joints like I do. I'm not sure the poses are recommended for artificial joints....

you might be on to something.

In a moment of trying to be a good citizen, I decided to start an informational page for our very small town.

I would get irritated how people didn't know what was going on and then complained. Especially parents - how do they not know if there will be school on a certain day. And these are parents that are on their phones all day but can't seem to be able to check the school calendar that can be easily accessed from that phone.

Anyway, I thought instead of getting irritated, I need to do something about it. That was my way of thinking in the military - if you see a problem, try to offer a solution. Usually the person that sees it, has an idea that might work.

Well - it is irritating again to see how petty adults can be. So I have tightened up controls. I want just positive informative posts, not nit picky posts or gossip. But I think it sort of played a part in my anxiety.

Are you on blood pressure medication?

What is your BP?

My wife just went through some of the same conditions. A minor increase in hormone replacement made a huge difference. Also be aware that some GPs and other physicians are not up to date with replacement therapy for thyroid disease. On numerous occasions my wife has had to argue with her primary or go to a specialist to get appropriate treatment. Fortunately I am up to date on the proper treatment protocols. We even had to help our eye doc who was being undertreated and did not realize it.
My mother had a benign tumor pressing against her thyroid which triggered anxieties, adrenaline overdrive release.
She wad mildly hysterical to begin with.
It happens.

But I suspect most anxiety is self generated.

You can correct me, but I've noticed maybe your diet might not be the best.

You've said you could exist on cereal for supper.

And you said you need very little from your closest small grocery store.

You also said you rarely cook, or when you do, it isn't all that often. And that you go out to eat a LOT.

Not getting enough healthy foods can cause depression and anxiety, and make one just not feel good.

A healthy diet is crucial for feeling optimal and not feeling depressed/anxious, in poor spirits.

And, of course, the less processed foods, the better.

I did notice yesterday or before, that you said you grow vegetables in the growing season, which is really a positive.

Just some thoughts.
