Love the home listings! The log cabin is very quaint. I like almost everything about it. I will do without the Bars N Stars. I'm actually a bit surprised they would include so many of their photos with it. A not-so-subliminal message about his preferred buyer?

I’m glad you liked them! Like DubbleT said, the “historical” aspect of the first cabin was that it went all the way back to 1990, lol. I’ve been saving them on Zillow, but I wasn’t sure if they’d be too rustic for you.

FYI, pretty much anything in the midwest or east will have heat, humidity, and bugs in the summer, or cold dreary winters. And usually both!
Some people like it. But I think for someone accustomed to S CA beach weather, it would be a tough adjustment. I moved to the west as soon as I got out of school and can't imagine going back.
A couple ways to get your beach fix is to get a decent camping rig and go to Baja, or just take vacations. We went the Yucatan in Nov and it wasn't expensive.
Lake Keowee, South Carolina, near Seneca. It’s at a higher elevation, getting up into the foothills. Very pretty area. Gorgeous lake. Not too far from Greenville/Atlanta.
We are retiring to the Hendersonville/Flat Rock NC area. Hendersonville has a gorgeous downtown-consistently ranked as one of the top small towns in America. Located between Asheville and Greenville. Relatively conservative and within 45 minutes to an hour of Lake Lure, Lake Jocassee, and Lake Keowee, beautiful lakes. We will be doing alot of boating in retirement and wanted to be near lakes. Wonderful weather, moderate snow, can get cold in winter, but mild, wonderful summers. Only drawback is property prices can be a little above average, depending on your price range, but it's all relative. We looked (and visited) all over the U.S. before making our decision. Narrowed it down to the Denver/Boulder area and western N.C. Love Colorado, but the house we're going to build in NC would be double the price in CO. Southern Oregon around Ashland and Bend are gorgeous, but too remote and too liberal. Coeur d' Alene is stunning, but it gets too cold in the winter. Really wanted to like TN, but the only place we really liked there was Franklin. Greenville, SC has a nice downtown area but not close enough to the mountains. Bonita Springs/Naples FL-very nice, but no character and very hot/humid in summer. Walla Walla, WA might be a possibility, but might be too liberal. Fairhope, AL has a beautiful downtown area, but too hot/humid in summer. Northern GA might be a possibility. Lake Lanier is there, but it can get hot in the summer.
