This may sound silly or weird even but, the pills are finally starting to work & today I cleaned out my refrigerator. I know, I know. In days gone by it would be a no-brainer but, when you have depression it's a milestone.

I know from being on medication previously that it does change your life. But, I'd lived with the smell that we all know, when something has died in that frig & you just have to take everything out until you find it hidden way in the back. Normally it would have been taken care of immediately, but depression holds you back on EVERYTHING.

So glad I am back on the road to being me.

When you have depression just getting out of bed is a milestone, never mind doing anything that's actually productive.

Glad you hear you're starting to feel better!

Good for you in facing this battle. Meds can help quite a bit.

...
If I may ask, is this the first time you've taken anti-depressants?

No. This will be my third time. The first when my closest brother died unexpectedly of a heart attack, the second when I started feeling like I am now.

I knew it was depression but kept putting it off because I'd done a major move, adjusting to a new place, procrastinating, etc.

It may be something I have to live with my whole life & it is really hard to tell the difference between normal life's ups & downs & when there is a problem. Not being able to have initiative to do anything is a sign. Or having a suicide plan, (time #2) is also key. Sleeping an abnormal amount (#1-I fell asleep on the examining table waiting for the doctor), is another symptom.

I'm so glad you are feeling better and it's great you recognized what was happening and took action.

Thank you. It's a difficult subject & so easy to just say, get over it. I think Robin Williams death really brought it to light, made more people aware that it is a condition that happens to people & shouldn't be taken lightly.

It's not until you feel better that you realize how bad it was.

And, if it is and the prescribed meds are working for you, that's what you do. Don't let anyone shame you or try to sell you on some "all-natural supplement" or "just eat [fill in magic food here] and you'll be better", etc.

Glad that you took control and are feeling better so you can enjoy your new home.

Good for you!!! I can remember the feeling, being depressed and then being helped by the pills. It's a wonderful time we live in that we have that kind of help.

I had to laugh at the story of falling asleep on the examining table waiting for the doctor. Sounds like something I might have done.
