I received 4 cards this season. Sent one (money card). Gave two (money cards). This down from over 50 cards sent some 10 years ago and at least that many received. It is just not a thing anymore.
I mailed out 12 cards, I think I got 5 or 6 this year. It's a dying tradition. I love giving and getting Christmas cards, but people are just too busy these days to take the time to send them out.

Really? I did 7 of mine in 10 minutes while watching TV.
Surely peope have 10 mins to mail a card to the very important people in their lives.
and cards cost me 12 for $1 early at dollar tree, so cost of cards cant be it.
Only drawback is paying half a buck to mail one....but that still cant be that hard for say, 10 cards.
Now, had you said people are to lazy to bother sending them out, id have said you were right.....
No. Haven't sent cards for over 25 years. I don't even open the cards sent to me....if I want to communicate with you, I will call. No Hallmark speaking for me.
Yesterday the cards suddenly arrived. 14 in all. Guess I'll be sending out late "Happy New Year" cards. I do want to send something out to the people who sent me something, even if it's ridiculously late.
Or maybe it's not such a bad thing, in January you stop getting fun mail so a card might be a good thing to find in your mailbox.
I keep a Christmas card list and make notes on it to keep track of the cards I've sent and received. If I send someone a card but don't hear back from them two years in a row, they get dropped from my list. The only exception is elderly relatives. Some of my friends and family send e-cards and others send no cards at all because we keep up with each other on Facebook. And that's fine with me.
This year I sent out about 19 cards and got back about 15. So next year's list will probably be even shorter.

By the way, how are things going in Wilmington? I was stationed on a Coast Guard cutter there 50 years ago and have pleasant memories of the area.
