I get a little a annoyed sometimes at those Christmas newsletters. I can tolerate the boasting ones, the boring ones, even the badly written ones. They mean well.
What bugs me are those who don't feel the need to trouble themselves to get in touch with me all throughout the year, not even an e-mail or a text to see how I'm doing, then once a year I'm supposed to care about their lives over the past 365 days?
My little business is actually making handmade cards and selling at craft shows. So yes, I send cards. As a matter of fact the people who get them would be very disappointed to be left off my list! They all keep them from year to year. I enjoy making them and it keeps me busy.
I have 32 people other than DH, DD and SIL, who get cards. Those 3, of course, are hand delivered. There are about 5 who do not get my special cards because I know they wouldn't care. There are about 8 who get special ones mailed and the rest are hand delivered to our friends who live in our community.

When my mother passed ...I begrudgingly sifted thru her memory box. Oh some of the holiday cards ...from handcrafted by my talented sister in law to the hilarious ones! It meant the world to me....that so many cared about her. I've chosen to keep them...
It's a holiday reminder that she left a place in my heart..particularly when I miss her on holidays. So keep sending and making cards...I for one appreciate 'em long after the paper has yellowed or the signature has faded...
Interestingly this topic is being brought up because I recently decided this year I will just send two cards which one will be to my sister and the other to my longest and closest friend. Now with Facebook I am in frequent contact with those I sent cards to so need to catch up now on what happening in each other's lives which we would do through Christmas cards.
When the Forever Stamps were first issued, at 41 cents, in 2007 I bought an embarassingly large number of them. As in, about $200 worth.
The proposed new first class postage rate (Forever Stamp) for 2019 is supposedly going to be 55 cents. I fully expect to be still sticking my 41-cent Forever Stamps onto my mail when the first class rate nudges $1.00. Or at least I hope I will be, LOL. If not, my son will have inherited a whole bunch of free postage.
BbCJunkie,you made money on those forever stamps. I was motivated recently to buy a bunch, not sure how many at Costco, $49.95. I hope it lasts forever for us too. All Xmas stamps.
We stopped sending lots of cards a long time ago, now just send a few. This year, I'm making an embroidered front for each card, designed for each friend. For instance, one gets a flamingo, another a zebra. Tons of fun to make.
We don't do social media and most of our friends and family do not either. My wife send 50-60 cards out every year with a family letter enclosed, we receive about 50 cards and letters from these friends and family. The wife enjoys doing the personal contact and those recipients do likewise. It's fun and more realistic with the personal touch.
