The first shot left me with a stiff sore arm the following day, no other issues. The second shot left me feeling mildly ill and feeling 'bleh' for a few days, but fortunately I had the foresight to ask for a few days off work "just in case". Turns out I actually needed them.
The first shot left me with a very sore and painful arm for several days. The second dose caused no problems at all. No other symptoms. That was several months ago.
I'm still waiting for the second dose. Its been almost a year since my wife and I got the first dose but our pharmacy is only getting a small supply so we have to keep waiting.
If you wait longer than six months for the second dose, I believe you need to start over. At least, that's what our paperwork implies.
I got the 2-shot series of Shingrex a few months ago at 59 (the new vaccine). Although the shots themselves weren't painful at all, I had about 3 days of flu-like symptoms after each. Just felt overall crappy with joint pain. It is a series of two doses, administered 4-6 weeks apart. . . ..
Weeks?!?!? We're told to get them two to six *months* apart!
Up on the CDC wesbite, it says 2-6 months apart. It also says that, due to a run on the vaccine over the holidays, there is currently a shortage of the second shot, which they expect to ease next month.

My husband and I are in our 50’s..he’s 58 and I’m 54 and we got both of the Shingrix shots last summer and fall. He had a little soreness for a day. And I had no issues at all.
I tried to get the first dose this past fall. The pharmacy told me there was a shortage and it wouldn't be available until this spring. I've been meaning to call and find out when it will be available.

There is a time line
If you wait too long between 1 and 2 then you have to start over
It is basically the same ingredients from what my doctor (who also has a pharmacy degree) said
So I don’t know what the big deal is about being out of dose 2
I'm waiting until next year for the Shingrix. I never got the old vaccine (Zostavax) because I'm allergic to one of its ingredients. I figure that by next year the "run" on Shingrix will have ramped down from what it is now.
I got the first pneumonia vaccine last year and will be getting the other one this spring, after the 12-month mark since the Prevnar one, so that will be my "shot" for 2019, lol. Then next year for the Shingrix. Anyway that's the plan.
The Prevnar 13 messed up my arm for about 3 weeks with a lot of pain and stiffness and neuropathy in my right hand. I heard that the Pneumovax one is rougher and am not looking forward to it. I'm righthanded but am not supposed to have any BP readings or shots or blood draws in my left arm because of lymph nodes removed during a past surgery, so everything has to be in the right arm instead.
