Not to take anything away from the thread asking married seniors if they celebrated Valentin Day, just the opposite. One of my pet CD peeves in all forums is when a poster asks a very specific question and someone responds with information that's just the exact opposite. I know conversations drift but there's a difference between drifting and out and out hijacking. Instead of doing that, it's easy to begin a new thread.

So off the soapbox. That's why I am starting a new thread for singles to respond to if they want. If any of the singles out there did anything or nothing for Valentine's Day feel free to share.

My senior center had a sweetheart day. They do this every year on Valentine's Day. For several months prior, members of the center are asked to vote for a sweetheart. This is a person who has done the most volunteering over a year. There are no official nominations, you just vote for whomever you believe deserves the honor. There is always a majority vote.

The party consists of a nice dessert, cake with strawberries and ice cream this year, pretty table decorations and a game. This year we played The Match Game for prizes. It was a lot of fun. It's not something I normally participate in but I support the volunteers and I like to show that.

To tell the truth I had forgotten about it being Valentine's Day but was immediately reminded when everyone asked me why I wasn't wearing red. Just about everyone was. I just remembered the party. But I think I can count it as celebrating Valentine Day.

I enjoyed your description of your day. Mine was nothing special, helped others celebrate but in most regards, a normal pleasant day.

Perhaps the romantic quality of my poem is one indicator of why I had no significant other with which to spend the day:

Up your back
And down your spine
Won’t you be
My valentine

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Just a typical day but with a mid-morning trip to the gym. Later, I made myself a special light lunch. In the evening, I met some friends at a restaurant where a popular singer was performing with the house band, with members that we know. Back home by 9 PM.

It's Valentine's Day?

Really, just realized that when writing the date today. Hasn't mattered for years. Just don't think about it. Don't lament it. It's just another day.

Yep. Just another day. Slept in late, took myself out for a nice lunch. Pretty much a normal day...

Worst day of the year. I read a book, watched it rain. Alone, isolated as always.

Worked, as usual. When I got home my grandson (14) gifted me with a pink teddybear and a flower he stole from his mother's vase of roses that his father had brought. He apologized that he couldn't find me a pink poodle stuffed animal, cause he knows I like poodles.. Best Valentines day I have ever had.

I haven't celebrated Valentines Day in over 40 years. This year was no different. At least there didn't seem to be as many TV commercials for it this year (or maybe I am just getting better at ignoring them). Although I have been tempted at times to order Sherry's Berries.

Just cavorted in the usual manner, nothing heart-threatening.

I like that. Valentines Day can be thought of as showing appreciation for friends, family and other people in our lives not just spouses and couples. I had a very dear friend with whom I used to go out for dinner on Valentine’s Day just for fun and to celebrate our friendship.

When she lost her battle with Cancer, I was glad we had those dinners over the years to look back on.
