Maybe I am just not understanding what you are saying (?)
Hello? I did not say that. You are mixing my post up with someone else’s.

And to add to this nonsensical list, my parents are both retired and have health issues. They each bought themselves nicer, new cars. A brand new Lexus and a Honda passport. Do they need these new car? No. Would they be completely fine with meager cars. Yes. But they enjoy the nice new cars they got. They enjoy driving them. It makes them happy. They worked hard their whole lives to give us what they never had. I told them to spend all of their money and the luxuries in life that make them happy.

They and I know they might not he here one day and I want them to be happy their last years. Go on trips, eat the best foods, go out to dinner, live life to its fullest. You do not need to save money for me or my siblings. We can take care of ourselves.

Good for them! There's something about a new car with decent suspension that makes it easier on those of us who are arthritic or have joint issues. My spouse has an electric car, loaded with batteries, so it's heavy and has a stiff suspension. Every time it hits a slight bump or pothole, I can feel it in my bones. I hate riding in that car.

They raised you right.

If you need a lot of luxury to be happy and you have the disposable income, that's great. If you don't have it and don't feel a need for the luxuries, and are very happy without them, that's good, too.

I live in a poor south Texas town, so i see people that do not have the spare funds go around spending on things mentioned it the article - that is their key target

If you have the funds to buy whatever you want or go wherever you want - go ahead. But seeing what goes on around me has made me more conscious of my spending.

Good shoes are not a luxury to a point. A couple years ago, I started experienced a lot of foot pain and even some numbness. I swapped cheap shoes for better ones and didn't have the problem again.

If you read my earlier post, I basically said that as long as the bills are paid and we have enough for "just in case," we do spend. However, what I forgot to mention was the fact that Hubby does the grocery shopping. Hubby (like me) had many lean years where he had to watch his spending. But, he still hasn't got out of that mindset. Yeah, he is cheapo...er...frugal. Sometimes if I request something special, he will say "It's not on sale." I then remind him, "We can afford it." What really bothers me when he says something when I spend MY money. He doesn't do that much but once in a while...

My wife is a bit like that. I wind up being the one to say go ahead and buy whatever it is that she is interested in. With no kids/grandkids, the last thing I am concerned about is being super frugal to leave an inheritance to nieces/nephew. I am going to enjoy my last years as much as I can.

If you're a guy with short hair, you don't need a professional haircut.

Unless it's chin length, do it yourself, or have your wife/partner do it.
