I always eat any crumbs first, because crumbs are food too, and I don't want to waste anything. Been doing this since I was a kid. I used to actually lick the plate, but I don't do that anymore...I have to act all grownup now.
My wife loves the thrift stores. She is so spoiled with the bargains she gets she hates to even think about going to regular stores for household items.
I cut a bunch of coupons for lunches this week. Subway tomorrow is a $3.50 lunch. I have a free Jersey Mike's. My eat with the family one day this week. I'll probably eat for under $10 rest of the week.
Is it poor or is it frugal - or are they the same thing?
Last month I re-started doing something my sister and I were doing before I moved from Minnesota. Every other month was a no-spend month, which basically is not buying anything extra and using up things in your pantry/freezer, etc.
I saved $250.00. I was astonished. So this month, although it's an okay to spend month, I realized there was a reason I froze that food; because it was tasty and I am still going to keep trying to empty my freezer, one meal at a time. I bet I save a lot more again this month.
I also wash used freezer bags - unless they've held meat. I always swore I would never do that because my mother always did and it made me feel poor.
Well, as far as I can tell, the companies that made/sold the product were the real winners with that rationale.
"A poverty mindset comes from being fearful that you'll never have enough so you feel helpless to fix your situation. But having a frugal mindset means you make “choices” about how you spend your money. ... Being in control is a much different mindset to feeling helpless, all with the same amount of money in the bank".
