My girlfriend coordinated with my college roommates to throw me a surprise birthday party in my dorm room. I was so impressed that the following year I married her!

That was 42 years ago.

I was in grad school, so I went to class & studied. I had a few shots of Tequila that night.

Had tea & cakes with some pals, then I found out Elvis had died & that ruined the rest of the day. I think two of us went for a drink after that, not sure now.

Don’t remember but given it’s early January and I was in college there’s a chance I was still home and not back to campus yet. I DO remember a few weeks later however. I was part of a small marching band that got to go to South America for a festival and when we left there we all were given a small bottle of, I think, rum. Given I was over 21 by two weeks, I forget how many of those bottles I had in my suitcase for others who weren’t of drinking age yet. Now, a year later, when I was in an apartment with my girlfriends and not a dorm I remember, or maybe don’t remember well. We came back to school early and had one hell of a party for my 22nd birthday! Our boyfriends even cleaned up for us afterwards I discovered the next day. 😄
