Time has nothing to do with it. This is the problem with all the desire to get back to "normal". Covid has changed our world and it will not change back until there is a cure, or a vaccine or the virus burns itself out.
It is true that the When Will It Be Safe time is unknowable. I answered based on the situation right now, which does not look optimistic (to me) any time within at least the next three seasons.
......
What does 1, 2, 3, or any number of seasons have to do with this? Again it is not time that is involved. Anxious or not, it is a matter of either beating the virus or waiting for it to burn out.
If you want a comparison, the Spanish Flu is one of the few events that was similar. It took 2 years and today's equivalent of over 2 million deaths to burn out and reach herd immunity.
I would travel by air now but the people I'd be going to visit may not want an out of state visitor. Plus how could I live with myself if the person I visited came down with the virus and died? Even though it wouldn't necessarily be me passing it on, the guilt would be there.
I put over a year, but I ought to disclose that I also have a flight phobia so it doesn't take much to keep me grounded. Ha!
Both our parents died in the last 6 months so we each ended up doing individual trips (in my case, multiple trips) and then with the whole family to each parent's services.
I was very tired of flying as Covid-19 arrived.
We were going to fly to Europe in December. I just don't see that happening. Our next opportunity would be next summer.
So over a year from now.
