I finally had my last work day yesterday after 19 years with the same company and I formally retired. Walking out as an employee for the last time almost felt like an out of body experience.
Much to my surprise, my coworkers brought in pizza, fruit, snacks and drinks and surprised me with gifts including a nice watch. I didn't expect nor want anything so I was humbled and surprised. Actually I was floored and a bit embarrassed. Even the youngest and newest employees, who I barely know would give me the thumbs up when passing me in the hallway. I almost felt like a celebrity, but an old celebrity, LOL.
This weekend I'm relaxing, watching Netflix and playing on the computer. Monday I start getting my house ready to sell. I have a few appointments with realtors next week and a lot to do getting ready to move to my retirement home. I plan to be there the end of May.
None of this seems real yet. Actually retiring was a huge goal of mine and now that's behind me. Onward to new adventures.

It's real all right! Congratulations! After more than three years, I still find it kind of unreal, like I'm a new person and I really like it, especially in my now-three-years retirement place.
