Do you know of any groups for retirees who are into day trading?
I invest for retirement, of course. But I'm not obsessed with it.
I'm asking this for a friend of mine who IS obsessed with it.
She's into investing and says her mutual fund returns have been about 73% over the last year.
Her stocks choices have been 130% return.
We both know that these past couple of years have been -- to say the least -- unusual.
She plans to be just as "interested" and into investing even after retirement -- and being aggressive about it. She's obsessed with growing her money in retirement up to 2 million.
She also plans to stay 100% in stocks after retirement. (Her pension and Soc Sec will be twice as much as her living expenses. She'll likely never have to touch any of her retirement accounts. She doesn't see that as play money -- but she sees no reason not to stay very aggressive with it.)
So far she hasn't found any interest groups of retirees who day trade -- or stay aggressive in retirement.
Quite a few people I worked with in the 1999-2000 time frame didn't day trade, per se, but they played the market. They loved telling me all about their huge gains. I'd just nod and smile.
Enron, MCI, Tyco, eToys, Pets.com......cured many of that habit!
I couldn't understand the people who hung on to the bitter end. I guess they couldn't believe the wild ride was over.
One of the people I worked with took profits ahead of the crash and had a purple bathtub installed in her house. The guy who was putting it in set her house on fire. Some people would call that an omen.

I do day trade at times; it all depends on the situation. It is just part of my overall investment strategy. My time frame for holding stocks has been anywhere from 45 minutes to one that I just finished selling in my Roth that I had bought in 2003.
The Economics forum has an Investing sub-forum and one of the threads is a long running one called "Share your trades as you make them". While not exclusive to retirees, people who trade post what they are buying/selling and their reasons.
