I am still missing stuff that I know I brought into the house when I moved in back in 2013 but I have never seen it again. There is a black hole that this stuff just disappears into, never to be seen again. Most of it is stuff I wasn't going to need right away so I must have put it in a safe place. The house isn't that big...
I've heard that most smaller things that go "missing" forever were likely accidently tossed in the garbage. Happened to us, we couldn't find a TV remote anywhere .....as a last resort we went through the kitchen garbage can and we found it amongst some papers that had been tossed. Socks are a different story, it is well known that sock-imps are real and have quotas to fill.
I bought an Apple Watch series 6 either late last year or early this year. I had it for months. I took it off one morning to take a shower. I forgot where I left it. It pinged in the house for a few days, but I never saw it again.

I can swear on a Bible, there are gremlins that take things as soon as your back is turned, hide them and put them back where they disappeared hours or days later.
