Those skirts look pretty and classic. I think usually young ladies, in the '60s to '80s, working in the office wore those. They look nice with beautiful silk blouses (which usually made with lace, bows, or different nice collars, and buttoned-up, LOL). Nowadays, if anybody dresses like that, she may get a look; people would think she is old fashioned and behind, from the ancient age.

Time goes by, people have changed, things have changed. Now, most women, (young and old), not all of course, like to wear low-rise jeans, pants, and low cut blouses and shirts, clothes that show more skin, the more the better, to show how sexy they are. So sad, they don't have nice body like women and girls in the '60s, '80s. Most women and girls nowadays are so obese, and they want to show their big belly and boobs. LOL

I don’t remember Bobbie Brooks but I sure loved clothes like Ladybug, John Meyer and The Villager. Gorgeous colors called Thistle, Winterberry, Persimmon, etc.. There were co-ordinating skirts, blouses, sweaters, and knee socks. There were also suits with a jacket and skirt, sometimes in a subtle plaid.

We did not have tons of clothes like young people today but better quality, I think.

That might explain it. We didn't have WalMarts back in the 80s. Still not many around in NJ.
Well there you go.

I have a sneaky suspicion that John Mellencamp knew about the WalMart connection.

Aren't they a brand of jeans? Or at least that sure seems like what the song would be referring to.

Jeans? Sure, but it wasn't the only item of clothing they made. They made a variety of items. Not high end stuff but very nice and worked for leisure or at the office.
