"Since Aduhelm is administered by infusion in a doctor's office the cost is factored into Medicare's outpatient coverage, not the separate prescription plan that pays for pharmacy medicines."
$20 should not make much of a difference in a budget. Look for other ways to save if the $20 matters so much. Most peiple could cut back on something & save the money that way.
At first I thought that it was going from 20 dollars to 170! But it is a 20 dollar increase only.
People of average means (not just the poor) can find this amount ($170 per month) and constant increases too much and a burden.
On top of that $170 per month payment, one needs to buy a Medicare Supplemental plan called a Medigap Plan (mine cost $256.20 per month), or have a Medicare Advantage plan which is not as good as a Medicare Supplemental plan called a Medigap Plan. (I know some Advantage plans are $0)
On top of that, one needs to buy a Medicare Part D Prescription Drug plan as a stand alone plan if it's not part of supplemental plans above.
Yes, to those who like to say Medicare is great - but the expenses above can still be a burden on average means people or people with lower incomes who are not in 'poverty' and not classified as 'poor'.
We received our SS raise for 2022 and then we are hit with:
Medicare Part A Annual Deductible increased to $1,556 in 2022, an increase of $72 from $1,484 in 2021
Medicare Part B Monthly Premium increased $170.10 in 2022, an increase of $21.60 from $148.50 in 2021
Medicare Part B Annual deductible increased to $233 in 2022, an increase of $30 from $203 in 2021
Medicare Part D Rx Drug Plan my monthly premium increased $21.00 in 2022
I have a Medigap Policy and was advised effective 2/2022 premium will be $204.00 per month.
So it's not just $20.00 it is overall increases with all the praise and hoopla about the SS raise and Medicare scared to announce the new 2022 premium and deductibles until the 11th hour. Then walk into a grocery store for another financial shock.
Bit off topic, so apologizing beforehand: does anyone know if the Medicare Part D coverage is still only available to you if you started with it when it first came out? Or when you were first elegible to take it?
We did not take Part D coverage when it came out, and our gamble paid off as we have taken no medications in all those years. But as we age we figure it might become more attractive. I know that's what the govt. doesn't want - people who join only when they need to - so I'm pretty sure I know what the answer will be.

You can add Part D during the enrollment period later this year. But you will be subject to a penalty for having waited to do so.
Anyone with a plan F is very lucky. It is not offered anymore.
Especially because we have a high deductible one ..we saved thousands compared to getting a regular F plan …
The difference in price between ours with a 2400 deductible and a full F plan is thousands here ..we average under 1k for the two of us in deductibles and out of pockets
I could've got a plan F but I was advised to go with plan G. They're very similar.
They are NOT the same. F is better. That was my point.
