Going down the hill to my sister's.
She usually cooks turkey breast and some of the most common sides.
I'm making macaroni and cheese.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Been up since well before dawn. Four racks of baby back's went on the smoker hours ago -- root beer/vinegar mixture in the moisture (steam) bowl, mainly pecan wood for flavor, and a mustard/cider/spice rub. Beer fridge outside is full of everything from Heineken to Guinness and my job is to ensure they're cold and properly taste-tested, then bring in the ribs once they're past the stall and rested.

There's also a lot of noise and activity in the kitchen, involving things like vegetables, stuffing and something fairly large in the oven. I have no idea what's being produced in there and am staying out of the way. Based on former Thanksgiving's it'll be quite good and I'll even have some of it with my ribs.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

We're not going to cook anything special, just the two of us. But Thanksgiving is still a special time, and our day consists of gratitude.

Here is a great video that sums it all up...especially now during this time of year.

https://youtu.be/Xb829shuQnE

Hope you all enjoy this wonderful day.

Carved 12 turkeys yesterday for our annual international conference, been a great time for us for only 28 years, but has been happening since 1947.

Incredibly, I totally forgot about Txgiving!! Thought it was next week!!! One of the benefits of solo retirement is freedom to set the date of your own Txgiving, so I'll have turkey slices from Trader Joe's next Thursday, and today whatever is on hand, likely involving a can of tunafish. Well, pilgrims must have eaten fish too, no?
