Keep Going in old age - what does that mean to you?
I'm only 70, never had anyone say that to me. I only walk two to five miles in the morning, go fishing, and enjoy a good cigar and bourbon in the evening. And there's a 32 year old lady friend who, well as they say dot dot dot.
In old age or even after my partially debilitating stroke, I never experienced some innate compunction to go out and be Mother Theresa.
Hoping I go to sleep one night, die serenely of old age and never wake up is far more important to me.
It's important to realize that you're not 35 years old when you're 75, particularly if you had control of your life and on your own, pretty much accomplished everything you had set out to do and now it's 40 years later.
The oldsters I see out trying to be 40 yrs old are the ones that somehow got sidetracked and are now trying to make up for lost time. That's understandable, but keep it to yourself

Someone shopping on Black Friday does not mean they don't do things to help others, and perhaps more than you, and perhaps without looking down their nose at others in the process. I know a lot of people who watch prices closely and simply take advantage of sales to get things they would've gotten at some point anyway - something for someone they love that they need, or something they themselves need. And finding gifts for someone for a price they can afford and getting out walking the stores can be a healthy outlet for someone with cancer.

A couple are ill - heart issues, cancer.
One wondered what the cancer patient was doing today on Black Friday.
I said probably as usual - Black Friday shopping for things made in China.
One told me - well she has to keep going
I said and shopping at Target and WalMart for things you don't need means that you are keeping on?
Shopping on Black Friday is a time honored tradition for some people. The sales, the crowds, the holiday spirit - it can be a lot of fun.
Many were getting their Christmas shopping done, some were taking advantage of the deals and treating themselves. I see absolutely nothing wrong with this. In many ways these people are helping others more than we know by keeping stores in business and contributing to our economy.
As someone who worked on Black Friday, myself, I was glad to see so many happy people out and about.

She's enjoying herself. Who says she doesn't help others? Also, she's old now, maybe she helped others all her life, and now she's content to take care of herself.
Either way, it's none of your business is it.
