Paul McCartney hands down. I listened to my 45 of him singing “And I Love Her” over and over dreaming he would show up in Tupelo, MS and declare his love. I was probably in 5th grade.
I thought we were talking opposite sex, if we are talking role models, then I would say Agent 99.
I am talking opposite sex. But in any case, I liked the idea of being a cowboy. I was four years old. The only women on those shows worked in bars and were not powerful, to my point of view back then.
When I was so much younger than today....
Paul McCartney - even now, I think it'd be fun to hang out with him.
Although I liked all the other Beatles too.
Danny Hutton - 3Dog Night
Chad Everett - Dr on Medical Center
Kent McCord - Adam 12
Jack Wild - HR Pufinstuf,; Artful Ddger in movie Oliver Twist
Gary Raymond - Sgt Moffat on tv show Rat Patrol
Adrian Paul - Duncan McCloud from The Highlander
Also had a crush on a local guy who was at least 2 class grades up from me.
Funny how things change. To me there is no other James Bond than Sean Connery but when I was young I never saw the sex appeal. But in later life as he aged I found him attractive.
I think there were women I "crushed on" too as young person. Trying to find my spot, I wanted to look like them, act like them, dress like them.
And speaking of cowgirls, we had Dale Evans, but who would want her role? The good-looking men got all the fun parts, riding and whooping and catching the bad guys.
Wasn't it right around the time of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" that suddenly there was something to consider in negative roles? There was more than one kid who might have wanted to take the character of Snake Eyes for a spin around the block. Or a young girl attracted to his clever and dangerous power? And how could you not love Tuco? There's one in every bunch.
