My DW has the Powers of Attorney for her Mom. All drawn up legal-like back in New Jersey. Are these Powers still valid after we've moved to South Carolina ??
I forget what the lawyers charged us in the Old Country (NJ), but I wouldn'[t want to pay it twice.
Where you live does not matter. Assume your mother-in-law is still in the same state.
If she is not it is probably still valid.
One problem is the vendor you want to use if for may not accept it. If you can you might want to show it to the bank?? etc.
When I transported an aging parent out of state the driver claimed she would need a new directive in the new state. I think we had to sign something new before living the facility. Also I know that wording of trusts might be interpreted differently in new states so you do need to have some updating to prevent legal confusion. Sorry that she is declining.
