Poor Peter is already too ill to tour & forsees being unable to play guitar adequately not too far ahead.
I believe I heard a number of years ago that Clapton already suffers from arthritis, a very recent interview quotes him as saying he figured his touring days were probably over when the covid event lingered on.
Phil Collins & Joni Mitchell are both not at all well & David Crosby keeps writing that he can't believe he's still alive with all his ailments. I think the only remaining survivor of R&R's first generation is Jerry Lee Lewis... so much for any theories about clean living & longetivity!
Yes, I felt bad for him when I heard he had this degenerative disease, but here's a somewhat upbeat article on his situation.
I have a bad feeling that Brian Wilson will be next. We saw him in May 2019 and he had just had back surgery. He was in a wheelchair and sounded horrible. I felt bad for him. He is not healthy - has many issues including mental health issues which he talks openly about. Still a genius when it comes to music. The Beach Boys are probably my favorite band however I wish they were ALL TOGETHER today- still playing. Growing up in California only a mile from the ocean - you had to have been a Beach Boys fan. :-)
Brian was a huge fan of Ronnie Spector and she just died not too long ago.
We live about a mile away from where the Wilson Bros grew up. Many in our area attended high school with them at Hawthorne High.
I saw him back in 2014 or 2015. They did Pet Sounds. The show was wonderful--the band he had up on stage was excellent, and there was this one guy who played sax, clarinet, and about four other instruments. It was at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ, a small-but-classy venue that attracts big names that don't fill arenas (I saw Smoky Robinson there, too, good show.) Al Jardine's son sang all the songs that needed reaching to the high notes.
But Brian sat most of the time, and when he did walk off stage you could see how difficult it was for him.
One of the things I remember most about that concert was that there was a group of younger people in the rows ahead of me, I'd say in their late 20s or early 30s tops. Way too young to have been around for the Beach Boys, yet they sang along and knew all the words and got up and danced by their seats a few times.
I sure hope Johnny Rivers lasts a long time. I know he isn't touring right now, and I could kick myself for not going to see him when he performed in my state a couple of years ago.
I absolutely love his songs--especially "Seventh Son." He's about 79 years old now.
I didn't know he was still around.
I remember his song "Secret Agent Man" and loved it. I was a kid and thought he was singing "Secret ASIAN man"! LOL!

I'm trying to figure out which of those you've named that you think lived "clean." Most of them were very heavy druggies at one point or another...some included booze. Joni Mitchell was addicted to cocaine & did other drugs, as well. She now has a disease.
Eric Clapton was addicted to heroin & other things, incl. booze. He almost died at one point.
Crosby: Addictions to booze and drugs. And food, obviously. He's been overweight or obese most of his life.
Jerry Lee Lewis: Addiction to prescription drugs...heavy booze user, too.
Frampton: Morphine, cocaine, anything he fancied.
Phil Collins: Drug addiction, booze.
And of course, with the lifestyle of rockers, more than a few have an STD or two, probably.
Healthy living increasing one's lifespan and quality of life isn't just anecdotal. There are statistics backing it up. Of course, there are various degrees of healthy living, and nothing is 100%, and healthy living can't overcome the willy nilly nature of getting cancer from the environment or accidents or genetics. Healthy living decreases one's chances for getting many bad things, but it doesn't overcome the chances totally.
Also, there are social factors at work. Whether a person has a partner or family, friends, interests & activities, generally leads to a longer life, I've read. I'm not sure if that's true, though.
Hong Kong residents are among the longest lived people on earth (over 80), esp. Hong Kong women (86.7). Some credit the Hong Kong tradition of workouts at dawn (daily swims, morning hikes, etc.), and a Cantonese diet big on steamed fish and veggies. All of the long-lived groups on earth have certain things in common, like a physically active lifestyle and little or no meat.
OK Boomers who will be the LAST 60's Top 40 music star to pass?
1, Must have been a part of a band or solo that had a Top 40's hit in the 60's.
2, Singer or musician that was actually identified as part of the group.
3. Excludes any member of the Rolling Stones. LOL, you know why.
If you were 18 in 1969 that puts you at about 70 today.
