Electric cars are for city people (in my opinion).
Imagine trying to tow a boat or a camper on an interstate with one.
Imagine being behind electric tractor trailers going up an incline on a highway.
Imagine doing a road trip and how much time it will add to your trip if you have to charge one while traveling. Right now the fastest one (current cost $77,000) takes 20 minutes.
Imagine driving at night in one and a space alien (in his non-electric flying saucer) zaps your vehicle to stop it and beam you up. Oh wait, they do that now.
Imagine living in an apartment complex and everyone trying to charge their vehicles every night at the same time. Imagine what a suburban one will look like with chargers everywhere? Ugly.
Imagine the metal thieves eyeballing all of those chargers.
I think they should make the environmental finger-waggers fly in private electric jets. I think Air Force One should go first.
Imagine not polluting your children, family and neighborhood with poisonous gasses every day.
Imagine how much less oil we will need from the Middle East and Russia if we use multiple times more efficient EV instead of ICE for as much transportation as is feasible.

Thankfully, opinions like this one are dying, and they likely won't be replaced by future generations of automobile owners.
Australian Company to Build EV Charging-Station Factory in Tennessee https://www.wsj.com/articles/austral...ee-11644345869
"Tritium said it expects to build six production lines to produce 30,000 of its fast chargers a year, creating more than 500 jobs at a site in Lebanon, east of Nashville."
So everyone that lives in apartments is just going to run a heavy duty extension cord the 500-2000 feet from their car to their apartment to plug it in every night? And how is it going to come in to everyone's apartment? Through a partially open window? Yeah that is going to work.
This incessant drumbeat about forcing people into electric cars by the elite, is going to have one big effect. Most people who have cars now, are NOT going to have a car of any type once these onerous mandates about all new cars being electric are in effect for a few years.
My suggestion for the vast majority of people is to figure out where your nearest shoe repair store is, you are going to be patronizing them much more often in the future. Or perhaps invest in horseback riding lessons, those may come in handy for people in rural areas.
It will reduce pollution considerably, but the electricity is not free. It's darn expensive. If the power goes out what then?
Electricity can be close to free if have solar. If power goes out, you have what you have, just like with gas except likely to be closer to full with an EV since most charge every day. With ICE, also hard to fill because need power to run the pumps and cash registers.
But many places have an EV rate for electricity when demand is low to allow for cheaper charging. In CA, my electric rate for EV is $0.09/kwhr from 12am to 6am, much less than the $0.26 avg. In NV, electric rate is $0.12 but EV rate is $0.04 from 10pm to 8am. Cost to fill is under $10 in CA and under $5 in NV - much less than the $50+ that gas would be.

Details on these 'elite' please.
