I used to bury money in my townhouse courtyard in Las Vegas, but when I moved to Tucson, I haven't but, given the psychological relief I've found for putting some $$ underground, I decided to do it again, but only 4 thousand.
Hundreds tightly wrapped and set into a small plastic container, into a zip lock, and into another zip lock bag, and into the ground it went. One of these days, after I expire, and someone buys my house and starts digging in my yard, what a nice treat for someone!
I talked to one of my elderly neighbors and she thought it was a great idea and has decided to do likewise, but only a thousand.
My sister and I along with some of our friends made a time capsule out of an old cookie tin and buried it somewhere in the woods behind our house. I don't even remember what all we put inside that time capsule. In fact, I had forgotten all about it until one day, about a decade ago, something reminded me of it. I went out into the woods to try and figure out where we had buried it and darned if I could remember. The woods had changed a lot over the years and anything we may have used to mark the location had been long ago obscured by fallen limbs, leaves and other debris. That house and those woods have since been sold. Maybe some day someone will dig back there and find that old tin "time capsule". But I would be surprised if the items inside have held up after all these years.
I wouldn't bury it. I'd put it into my bank...the First National Bank of the Mattress
Oprah said she keeps thousands in her mattress, in case of emergency. You're in good company.
