Putting On Socks (support, older, problems, small)

I am posting this in retirement as I expect many, like myself, are older and having the same issue. Due to back problems, I have problems putting socks on. The below product works very well, simple to us, and short money:

I have something very much like that for putting on support socks. But I can't make it work. My heel gets stuck on the inside of it, and the cords are pulling the thing in the wrong direction and just makes the problem worse. I wonder if I got a smaller one would that be easier or more difficult to use.
Reminds me of one guy who had something like that for putting on socks. Surprisingly, he had (no known) medical ailments, but it'd take two of me to equal him.
There's kits they sell for hip surgery patients which have that.
