If approaching retirement, have you thought about getting yourself something to mark the occasion?

Personally, The Les Paul is also on my list. But a trip to somewhere special is a likelihood (like playing golf at St. Andrews in Scotland, or at Pebble Beach in Cali). We’re not wealthy, but this is a milestone life-event, so I think it is justifiable.
Yes. I’m taking myself and my son to Europe for Christmas.

Maybe.... I bought a never completed vintage race car kit prior to retirement to be one of my post-retirement activities. Still not completed three years later, but substantial progress has been made!

Some impressive “gifts” posted here! I think if I came home with a new car my wife might kick me to the curb, lol.

Yeah.... get out of the 'salt belt' before you buy that new car

Or... buy used car from a non-salt state. (Take a road trip through western NP's on your way home!).

If you have rural property and the space... build a shop or barn as a men's shed (before you need it as a refuge). I'm very surprised how my interests (and abilities) have changed during the seasons of retirement.

Don't get too hung up on what you expect to accomplish. Life still happens. Be ready for change.

Perfect answer!

I gifted myself the retired life at age 46.

Also, instead of receiving a watch for my 25 years of service, I took my own watch off at the end of my last shift and haven't worn one since.

Did you get yourself a retirement gift?

Yup, her name was Ashley. Fun while it lasted.

My gift was moving to Florida the day I retired. I took the gift back after living there 10 years.
