I thought I'd share an aging gracefully story of people, who we sort of know... Although in the Politics section of the WP, it is not a political story. I found it heartwarming and somewhat exemplary how the Carters have aged. Of course, there are many more old people around the world aging in an exemplary fashion and I like to read their stories too.

As Rosalynn turns 96, the Carters continue to defy the odds

True Christians and I don't think that very often (or see it). Fine gentlepeople.

Thanks for posting that. They are true soul-mates and good people. It will be sad when either of them dies, leaving the other alone. I wonder if one will outlive the other by very long.

I doubt it. Mr. Carter is a hospice patient, I believe, and I think Mrs. Carter has dementia. They are both of an age.

Reminds me of a dear couple last year, he died in April, she in June. The memorial was held several weeks later on what would have been their 60th wedding anniversary.

I was heartbroken when Carter lost for re-election. I was so heartened by his modest living and attention to environment.

I agree. They lived their faith, under the widest public scrutiny imaginable. That is rare. I bet he'd never get elected today. Simpler times....

I was working in TV news when he won in 1976, like clean air after Nixon. Then 1980, it was over.
