I am in a 55+. Community center, activities galore. Pools, gym, no kids, and all the coffee and cookies you can eat, and new. Home range from $140,000 to $300,000.

Considering other HOA's charge at least in the $70 range for little of nothing, this is a bargain, and no, no golf course which suits me fine, why pay for something you do not use. All for $105 a month.

Hi, I wondered where your 55+ community was located? That sounds like a pretty good deal (HOA fees) if you get all of those amenities? Thank you

I am in a Del Webb called Hill Country Retreat in San Antonio Texas. Lots of couples and lots of singles. Even have a singles group called Uno and they are pretty active. Newer community, about 400 homes now and a total planned of 2000.
In our immediate area there are 5 singles and 4 couples.

Are there any demographics for your community? I'd love to know the ratio of singles to couple homes owned. But sounds more positive than most of those communities...and the monthly HOA is great!!!

The only demographic I know of is the average age is 61.

Every Del Webb statistic I've heard is that the average age is 61-62. I wonder if that's really true or they just spout that one. Most of the people I see when I visit seem to be a lot older...

Been to a lot of functions at the community center. Only one spouse has to be over 55. Seen folks ranging from 45 to 85, so the number is real close in my best guess. Lots of people in our community still working, so probably a younger crowd than normal. Moved here from a Del Webb in Arizona, would guess the average age there was in the upper 60's, maybe even lower 70's.

I know almost every 55+ place I've checked is 75% couples. Very discouraging for singles.

I've read that there are 13 single women for every single man in "The Villages." Great for the guys--not so great for the ladies. But we women DO outlive them, so that's on our side! I've heard it said most men in retirement want a "nurse" or a "purse." Forget it!

We run into a number of singles that live across the street from our development. You can check out My Trilogy Life - Welcome and see some of the different areas and states that they are building in. The one here in Vistancia is awesome and they have slashed their prices to a very tempting starting point.
