We are 63 and 70 with two 8 year old girls adopted as infants. Our financial picture is comfortable but DH is still working and actually wants to continue. We can't figure out how to plan for the future with young children. He says he would retire or go partime if I can prove to him we will be OK. How do I do that with alot of our income coming from rental units very old and in need of remodeling or repair?
I haven't been to a financial planner before. What do I show this person if I do decide to go? a list of all our assets and expenses? Anybody else in this situation?
Hopefully you have made arrangements for guardians for your children, first and foremost and a trustee to handle their finances.
You should contact your attorney for a recommendation of a financial planner or a trusted friend or relative or through the bank where your have accounts. You will need an accounting of all your assets and liabilities, income statements, etc.
