There is a bus that goes from Logan to the bus station in Providence. I think the bus stops at South Station in Boston and Foxboro on its way to Providence. I took it last summer at this time, and this bus service has been around for years so I imagine its still up and running. I think its the easiest way. I forget if the bus company is called Bonanza or Peter Pan. It stops in front of the terminals and comes every hour at certain times or every two to three hours. I know I landed at 4pm and there wasn't a bus until around 7pm. So you need to plan your times as best you can. You buy your ticket on the bus and there is a cargo area under the bus for your baggage. Its a comfortable bus not a city bus type of vehicle.
You can also take the silver line (bus) from Logan, it stops in front of the terminals. Take it to South Station and hop on the commuter rail for the train trip to Providence.
Two buses you can try - they have the NYC to Boston (Chinatown to Chinatown) run and I believe one of them stops in Providence:

Peter Pan Bus - also goes from Providence to Boston - again, you need to find out how to get to the airport in Boston and to Providence from TF Green Airport in Warwick, RI.
To get from the airport (Warwick) to Providence:
RIPTA (RI Public Transit Authority) runs buses that stop at TFGreen Airport. Check the Ripta website for details.
Once in Providence, you have options:
1. MBTA commuter train stops in Providence and goes to Boston (not to the airport, though). This is different from the "train" which refers to Amtrak and is quite a bit more expensive.)
2. Peter Pan Bus - also goes from Providence to Boston - again, you need to find out how to get to the airport from Boston itself.
Frankly, if you're not familiar with the areas, I'd toss out cheap and go for easy.

I just checked this out as I visit Mass from time to time. I have taken the bus from Logan to Foxboro which continues to Providence for a number of years. Something seems to have changed though. There seems to be less frequent service now than in the years past. The Bus company is called Peter Pan and the fare from downtown Providence to Logan seems to be $38.00 RT.
Im thinking you might have better luck as I mentioned with just taking the Silver line from Logan to South Station and get on the commuter rail to Providence. There is probably more frequent service with the trains.
If you want you can pull up Peter Pan's website and read up on it. I felt there was limited info on Logan service, so I don't know whats up, it used to be alot better. Good Luck.
Silver Line to South Station and either Commuter Rail (cheaper) or Amtrak (more expensive) to Providence from there. Check both Amtrak's schedule here and the MBTA Commuter Rail schedule here. Between the two services you should find something that works for you.
One thing I'd like to point out is that Acela Express (Amtrak) service is much more expensive than Commuter Rail or Northeast Regional service along the same route. Acela is high-speed, but doesn't reach top cruising speeds on the dense Boston-Providence route. The Acela will get you from BOS to PVD in 35 minutes, but the Northeast Regional will do the same trip in 40 minutes. Not worth double (maybe more) the price if you ask me.
Last time I was booking a flight from west coast to Boston ( on orbitz) I was getting cheaper deals to fly to Providence directly than to fly to Boston. Have you looked into that. I just checked the box to check surrounding airports and Providence kept coming up for the cheapest flights.
The cheapest would be MBTA Commuter Rail to South Station then the Silver Line to the airport. Roundtrip cost would be $19.50. Trip would take about an hour and 15 minutes, depending on the schedule.
Take the bus. It takes you from the bus station in Providence right to Logan airport and stops at each airline. If you will be returnng to Providence and have a car, you can leave it at the bus station lot for free. I've used it several times.
The Silver Line from Logan to South Station is now FREE (in that direction only) and the Bonanza Bus is $9 to Kennedy Plaza or $22 to TF Green airport. There are RIPTA busses from Kennedy Plaza to TF Green (PVD) for $2 so the whole trip can be done for $11...

Yeah it does reach top speed in MA between Boston and Providence.
