Short story - female, live in West Warwick now, but about to leave a bad relationship and strike out on my own. I work on College Hill and ideally I'd like to live closer to work (if I can walk there from home, or at least be on the bus line, it would be a definite plus).
I think the most I could afford is $1,000 depending on what utilities are included. I like the idea of living on the East Side; it's close to work and shopping, and I love the history of the houses. I've lived in a turn-of-the-century house elsewhere and thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. I know it's nice in the Benefit/Wickenden area close to Brown and RISD, but how about closer to Gano or Wayland Square?
Also, what about East Providence? I don't know much about the East Bay, but I had my eye on a couple of places in Riverside (which sadly were rented already). That's an easy drive to the city too. Any parts of East Providence I should stay away from?
I mentioned North Providence too because eventually I'll want to buy. A couple of years ago I toured a condo in an old mill building on Woonasquatucket Ave. and fell in love. There's another mill on Douglas Ave. that I heard about, that could be a possibility. This won't be for another year or so, probably. But, I'd like to get an idea of the Allendale area before I decide to buy there. So any help you guys (and gals) could offer would be great. Thanks!
