My wife and I are 27 and possibly looking to move to New England from a cozy, comfortable apartment in Westerville, Ohio. We're used to suburban mid-ohio living, and we're looking at having kids in the very near future. We're both artists: she's a fine artist/art teacher and I'm a graphic designer.

My wife loves shopping, we both love Starbucks, and I love being able to run and bike outdoors.

The job I might be getting is currently located in Maynard, MA, but will be moving to Providence in the next few months. I'm torn between trying to find a place that's close to Maynard or trying to find a place close to Providence. Also, I don't know where to look for comfortable, safe neighborhoods with affordable rent.

Could someone offer their advice? Thanks!!

What's your budget? How much space do you need? Are you bringing cars?

Try Elmgrove Ave, University or any other street in that area on the East Side of Providence. A Starbucks is but 4 blocks away. The question is the commute to Maynard. Definitely over an hour or more in snow.

I'd like to look in the price range of $1000-1500. We have 2 cars.

You have loads of options between Maynard and Providence. The problem will be narrowing it down. Maybe a town like Franklin, Ma? Semi suburban, on the rail line, nice town. Cumberland RI maybe?

I don't think Maynard is on the MBTA line--but you might be able to find some other form of public transportation to work, for the few months you will be there--at least it should be good weather.

And I have one acronym for you--RISD. If your wife is an artist, she will love RISD, Benefit St, the whole College Hill area. And you can always take the train to Boston to visit there as well--great place to visit.

Good luck!
