-All of that info is incorrect! You are wrong.
-It's Bush... he did it.
-RI is in no worse shape than any other state in the country.
-Lincoln Chaffee is a bright, handsome, articulate, and decisive man, who has worked hard his entire life for the position he now holds.
-You are certainly one of the few citizens of RI who has ever escaped alive.

Maybe Rosco is getting as tired as the rest of us concerning gloating out-of-staters posting articles going on about how much worse off RI is than any other state. Especially articles whose budgetary numbers have already been refuted in the newspaper.

Oh my God...I lost it for a moment.

Hi Hollytree, many states have problems true! But... Rhode Island's city and towns are at the top top of the tax scale, they have no where to go.
Other States, such as Arizona, Texas, Florida have much lower property taxes... they have a way out.

After being a Rhode Islander for 30 years we left the state for better jobs, we still have family and friends here in RI and we spend a lot of time visiting (every summer and holidays). I have really noticed the lack of vibrancy in the state as compared to years ago. There have been a lot of positives though. The cost of housing and taxes are so so much lower here in Florida and that keeps us from relocating back.

I would like to see more state money spent on small business like financing the Arcade for example rather than financing Shiling. My two cents. I wish nothing but the best for RI as our hearts belong here. The grass isn't always greener somewhere else, but RI is truly unique to us and we miss it.

Funny, I lived in FLorida for 25 years and really notice the lack of vibrancy every time I head back down there. All the McMansions that were going to be built near my parents' country club have been frozen for over two years now. The new mall out near Dade City was never built. Over 50% of people are underwater on their homes down there....

It's almost as if the whole country was recently plunged into some sort of recession or something!

You see the same thing all over Florida. Davis Blvd in Naples was completely overbuilt. $1000000 homes now can be had for $350000. Dade City is our first choice if we ever leave Rhode Island. I like it's history and that fact it is a small town with an urban center. And the fact it can get chilly there during the winter enhances its appeal for us. Actually hope they never build a mall near it.

You're right, it can get very cold. They had frost there this Winter. Personally I prefer the rural parts of Rhody to those of Florida, but each to their own.
