I have tried at home, and one of the hardest things is finding the right ingredients. I have potato pancakes, but I have yet to find good spatzle or a good breading for Schnitzle. I also miss currywurst and good brötchen. I wasn't necessarily looking for a restaurant, a good German deli or a place that carried German ingredients was really what I was looking for, but some very nice people are suggesting restaurants as well. I can cook German good, but I miss certain things...I'm sure you understand!
For those interested, this Saturday the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in West Warwick is having a Smorgasborg. Not sure of the hours and I have never been to it.
I wish I saw this sooner, it could have saved you alot of time. Chef-a-roni in e.greenwich has almost everything I've ever needed for German foods. Don't let the name fool you.
I have tried German Deli, but what kills me are the shipping prices You might only have $25 worth of food, but then they want to charge you $18 to get it. Crazy!
I will try geiers as well and see how that works out.
Thanks for the suggestions!
