Which school is better? I am looking at several schools but I would be majoring in Fine Arts and maybe some theater, and both schools offer it.

It depends. URI is more known for science, engineering, business, however there art program is pretty good. Also, if you want to dorm it would probably be URI as RIC is more of a commuter school. If you do plan on commuting, RIC may make more sense sense it is cheaper.

This website should help you out a lot.

I'd say RIC. It has an excellent arts program. URI is best known for oceanography, pharmacy and some others.

Thanks for the website and the responses. According to RIC they offer more art concentration subjects but URI is better for other things.

The student review ratings percentage ranks....
RIC
38% Would return to RIC
62% Would NOT return to RIC
With an average of 84.4% for overall rating grade. (still above most state colleges in America)

URI
53% Would return to URI
47% Would NOT return to URI
With an average of 86.9% overall rating grade. (alittle higher than it's state competition)

Well the students seem to like URI better but RIC offers more courses, that makes choices more difficult.

RIC has dorms and a decent on campus population. It used to primarily be commuters, but that has changed over the years.

I know someone who went to RIC for music education and she got a job shortly after graduating. I also know someone who went to URI for education and it took a while to get a full time teaching gig.

RIC will be more affordable and likely have smaller classes as it is a smaller school. Overall, I think it really depends on what you're looking for from an overall experience.

Default theater

not sure if this is helpful, but maybe take theatre classes outside of either college. I know there are places that do offer such classes. In my opinion they may even provide resources for internships and/or employment. WE have theatre by the sea, as22o, and other places.

CCRI and RIC have great arts programs. I would never go to URI unless I was into enviromental stuff or pharmacology.

It all depends on who you're talking to. :-)

URI alum here and I would say URI is a better school. But I'm biased. :-)
