My fiance and myself will be moving to Rhode Island this summer and we are now beginning to search for places to live. We are now currently living in the Midwest. Both my fiance and me will be working at the Rhode Island Hospital. We do not have any children (nor plan to have any in the next 2-3 years). So which neighborhoods are safe? Are there any nice areas near the hospital? How pricey do the nicer neighborhoods become? Thanks.

I had already seen that thread. The replies generally were about which hospitals would be good to work at, and not so much about which neighborhoods are close to the hospital and whether they are safe/nice place to live for two young professionals.

The closest neighborhoods- within 10 minutes- are all suggested in that thread. If you don't like those, all of RI is within a 30-40 minute drive. The east side of Providence, for example, has been discussed endlessly in these threads.

You don't indicate whether you are renting or buying or what your budget is.

That thread is actually pretty bad for neighborhood descriptions. Are you looking to live in Providence or outside the city? Are you planning on renting or buying? What kind of neighborhood are you looking for?

The hospital isn't in the best of neighborhoods, but is on a major bus route and is easily driven to from most of the city. There's also a streetcar line planned to connect the hospitals to Brown University.

Anyway, I'll need a bit more info to give you some help. I know Providence quite well, but am not all that familiar with nearby Cranston or Warwick.

Stay away from the Providence area.. obviously, you haven't driven around Rhode Island Hospital. once you do, you'll know what i mean.
i assume you guys will be renting first, since if you intend to buy.. no forum suggestion can equal an expert advice from a realtor.. ( quality schools etc)
there are a lot of SAFE places that are 15-20 minutes drive to RIH, provided you're not using the free way on rush hour.
i work at Women and Infants Hospital which is super close to RIH and i live in North Providence/Smithfield border.

Sure, the RIH area isn't the best, but to basically say that's representative of the rest of Providence is silly. It's not. Providence is a safe city. Heck, even around the hospital it's not bad.
