Hey I'm a sophomore at Brown from Pittsburgh, have yet to find a good cafe that reminds me of home- not looking for good coffee- I'm a tea drinker. No chains, urban, outdoor seating would be nice, tree lined maybe, but most of all not crowded, I'm a writer and I like to have peace. Anyone know any places that somewhat fit what I've described? Thanks.

Nobody can guarantee "not crowded" but most of the shops that will fit your description would be on Thayer or Wickenden and one ( I think ) in Wayland Square. You could also check out downtown.

weather getting too cold to drink tea outdoors.
btw if you want privacy - as an aside - since you are a writer,
check out the Providence Public Library.. it's huge, there is an elevator
to upstairs levels with tons of privacy, you can get lost.. in this day
and age, people don't read books anymore.. also, they have thousands
of addtl books stored in the basement. just my 2c, and while you're
there, maybe pop over to Cellar Stories, they have a quiet back room.
It's right around the corner from Blake's Tavern.

What about Seven Stars bakery cafe on Broadway in Federal Hill? It may be too far from Brown, but I was there last week for hot chocolate and a cookie. Their bread is sold in one of the Whole Foods in Boston. Several people were reading on my visit, but it may not be large enough for you. Not sure if they have a sidewalk presence in nice weather.
They told me their larger store is on Hope. Probably closer to you?

I think Olga's Cup and Saucer might fit your needs. It has quite a nice outdoor sitting area when the weather gets warmer.
