Dude, this thread is based on Chafee claiming that RI is the best state to do business in the country while the "study" ranks it at #49. What "proof" do you Chafee defenders have to back his claim up (or proof that Forbes is wrong)? This man becomes a bigger joke every day.

All I said was that the "corruption surveys" are meaningless in that they only measure the crimes actually prosecuted successfully. It is a given that the more corrupt a government, the less chances are that charges will by filed/successfully prosecuted in the first place (nothing to see here, move along).

I never claimed RI was the best place to do business (which is such an abstract general idea to begin with). I am sure Chafee is incorrect on this note, although actions do speak louder than words. That last Governor we had bemoaned the state constantly, but really didn't do anything to improve it. At least Chafee has been traveling the country (and even out of the country) to drum up enthusiasm for our business climate and try to get things done.

The contradiction of terms is that I also sincerely doubt we are #49, as Forbes puts it. And substantively, the argument veered into a debate about corruption when one of the other posters raised that issue. That is what I was responding to. If you honestly believe all studies on corruption in all states are meaningless (despite a pretty consistent trend - which usually belies your belief), then you are automatically ceding the discussion to others. You've already admitted you believe corruption is unfalsifiable. I, of course, find this to be a totally ridiculous cop out, but I appreciate that you admit you have no idea how corrupt we are in any way, shape, or form - other than silly message board anecdotes.

To me, if I find every single study ranking us much lower than your anecdotal "evidence" suggests, that's a pretty huge rebuttal. But hey, I like believe in science and stuff more than hearsay. Maybe you just surround yourself with corrupt individuals and you think we're all like that? I don't know.

Yeah, we've heard that before.

The fact is you know nothing about me accept that I operate from an entirely different basis of facts than you do. And you appear to have a lot of hatred. I'm not the only one on this board you've gone after, I just happen to be your number one target.

OK, Let's talk turkey
...your one sided stance on everything drives me crazy. Everyone knows where you will stand, before you say a single word. Your so predictable in your one sided, closed minded ideals.

You've stated I have sweeping points of view, but you fail to see the sweeping point of view you have toward the entire state of Florida. The entire state! You fail to see the sweeping views you have about all of the Southern States, there all dirty, undereducated morons, that disagree with you (meaning the left.) The studies you find are perfectly accurate, if someone counters with a study they find that differs, the study is from a right wing pig with "$$$" not to be taken into consideration. As i've said before, you don't just disagree with the right, you hate the Right. They have no value in your eyes, sorry but to me, that's scary!

You're fighting a war for away of life that not everyone wants and agrees on. Try to understand this.
"Balance" is a foreign concept to you. Sorry, but these short sighted ideological views, beg investigation from me, and for that fact, I know I am wrong.

I simply have never heard you come forward with an idea, or an independent thought that the left hasn't given you permission to use. You've never come forward with an idea to make the state you "love" improve. When others on this site are giving ideas and opinions, your not to be heard from. When it turns political, bang! you're in.
You fail to understand that extreme left and extreme right, meet at the same "freedom sucking" point. Try reading some history please.

Man...You simply can not believe RI is 49th (or somewhere near that figure) in business friendliness. You just attack the source, instead of trying to give an idea to balance the possibility of this problem. mind you, the possibility of the problem.

These facts along with your condescending attitude, and belittling personality tend to infuriate me.
God....you make a perfect 2nd generation Communist.

Come on, Rosco. It's an internet forum. Only because you and rnrboy are at loggerheads politically that doesn't mean either of you should take anything said here personal. Would be mighty boring if there were never any disagreements, huh? I'd be out of a job! Have an all-inclusive merry christmas, everybody.
