I must say I'd love to see more courageous politicians, not those who just go along to get along.

True. Regardless of party affiliation there are a lot of gutless weasels in the statehouse.

And the biggest one is in the Governor's seat.

I must say, we were VERY surprised at the response time of the politicians when contacted. On another thread I had mentioned my wife's trouble getting through to unemployment (trying for 4-6 hours a day for 13 days in a row). I got fed up and sent emails to the Governor, both Senators, our Congressman, and our 2 local state-level politicians. Within 4 hours we had calls back from every single one with the exception of Chafee's office. And they weren't just "thanks for the email", they were personal calls by staff members (or the local politicians themselves) with offers to contact people they knew in the department and get it resolved. I was very shocked. Granted, as soon as I hit "send" on the email my wife ended up getting through (I heard angels sing in the heavens LOL), but she has to do this again in 9 weeks. I think I'll call the Senate first!

Well see, there's one of the advantages of a small state. When Cianci was around, he used to show up at local parties. I must have met him personally 5 or 6 times.

Not really familiar with this source "RIFuture", but the article does not appear too legitimate and cannot back up anything it is implying. Just how are "conservative policies" destroying the state's economy? All I see coming from RI politics are super high taxes, runaway public sector spending and overly generous welfare benefits (hardly conservative policies).
